🚩 Inbox clarity + Copilot upgrades you’ll want to try

Use case of the week

A good use case for getting on top of your inbox is "Ask Copilot to prioritise and summarise your emails (received over the past week)"

It will help you connect yourself to last week’s emails, after a relaxing and restoring weekend, for example.

The prompt for you to copy and paste into the Copilot chat is:

Dear Copilot, as it is Monday morning and I have just come back from a pleasant weekend, please help me summarize the important emails I received the past 10 days and prioritize them based on urgency. Present the results in a table with the following columns: Sender, Date Received, Summary, and Action Required. Ensure that the summaries are concise and the actions required are clearly stated. Also give me one (1) tip on what I can do to manage my inbox efficiently for the next 24 hours.

What's new for Copilot

There is a lot of new features that have been released for Microsoft 365 Copilot the past week.

The Copilot chat interface got a remake at the beginning of June 2025 (where the Copilot menu now is on the left side).

Now, at the beginning of July 2025, the following features have become available:

  1. Custom Instructions. You can now provide Copilot with specific details and guidance on how to improve its responses tailored for you. For example, if you want Copilot to make its responses more authentically you, you can describe your personal values (e.g. "my tone is loving and at the same time challenging, with a bit of humor where it fits."). In this way you don't have to supply that in each of your prompts.
  2. Copilot Memory. What is a Copilot Memory? Well, when chatting with Copilot, it will remember details from your chat to personalise your experience. You can also create memories by saying, 'Remember I like concise responses'.

To configure your own instructions and memories, open up the Copilot chat (in the browser). Go to Settings in the top right corner (see arrow in the screenshot).

Caveat: It might be that this feature has not come to your Copilot yet.
