Hallo Reader!
In today's email we will take a look at the new feature Copilot Notebooks. It was released in June when the new interface for Copilot was introduced (see below for a screenshot). Maybe you have tried to use it but not really understood its purpose and how to use it?
Well, a good way to look at it is that it allows you to pull together those Copilot result pages that you conduct on a specific topic or area.
Surely you have those?
It could be around your own area of responsibility or area of expertise or area of interest.
Then, when you have pulled these pages, plus all other files you need from around your Microsoft 365, you can then use Copilot to ground its output from only that Notebook.
And that becomes powerful for your self-expression. It is like having a second brain in a way.
So more on Copilot Notebooks below.
🚀 Use case of the week
Use case: How to use Copilot Notebooks.
Do the following to get started with Copilot Notebooks.
- Make sure you have a few pages (in Loop) on a particular topic (could be a project or work area)
- Create your Copilot Notebook for that topic
- Add the pages that you saved from the Copilot chat to to your Copilot Notebook
- Now you are ready to prompt the Notebook
- And what you can get also is a pod-style audio file (for this, click on the "Get audio overview")
Good luck!
🗞️ What's new for Copilot
It is now possible to use Copilot Notebooks in your Copilot interface (see below where you find it).
When you click into "Notebooks" you get the following view and you can create a new Notebook.
When you click into your Notebook, you get this view.
By clicking "Add reference" you can add files from your Microsoft 365.
How to use Copilot Notebooks? And how do I get started?
What we recommend is that you start using it as a way of aggregating your Copilot result page that belong to one specific topic.
Let's give an example.
You are using Copilot for generating content in one area of your work. Maybe you now have a number of good contents sitting in your Copilot chat conversations.
What you can do is to collect them all into a Copilot Notebook, and then use that repository for Copilot to ground its result.
There are a few more things you should be aware of:
- It is using Loop pages as its main storage media (so it'd be a good opportunity for you to get accustomed to Loop pages, if not already)
- If you are using OneNote for handling your notes, you now will have Copilot Notebooks inside of your OneNote application. This makes it easier for you to manage your Copilot Notebooks, of course.
- You can set Copilot Instructions to tailor how it responds—adjusting tone, format, or even aligning with your coaching style. This makes Copilot feel more like a partner than a tool.

🗓️ Upcoming events
Our next weekly webinar is scheduled for July 25 at 15:00. We will go through how to work with Copilot Notebooks and you are welcome to ask any question you have on this feature. 😊
🔬 Our research on Copilot
We are conducting more in-depth research on how Copilot is changing the way we work and we publish our articles LinkedIn. One of our article is "How to use Copilot for supporting your work-life balance".
In this article we focus on how Copilot can help you establish clear boundaries between your work and your personal life. In this way you will get help to have 'no work' times to unplug completely from work-related activities and be able to focus on your personal life.
